Barraca is an organic and vegan Xarel lo, partially fermented in chestnut barrels, from high-altitude vineyards in Els Alts d Ancosa. Unctuous, elegant and food-friendly, it combines tropical notes, hints of vanilla and delicate smoky tones with a broad and fresh palate.
Barraca de Celler Les Iaies is an organic and vegan wine made exclusively from Xarel lo sourced from vineyards located in Els Alts d Ancosa, at 630 meters above sea level, one of the highest areas of Penedès. The limestone soils with clay and the excellent ventilation promote slow ripening, bringing freshness, tension, and great varietal expression.
Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks and finishes in chestnut barrels, a traditional wood of the region that encourages subtle micro-oxygenation and adds complexity without masking the fruit. Afterwards, the wine undergoes aging on its fine lees to gain texture and depth.
On the nose, notes of vanilla, tropical hints, and delicate smoky tones appear. On the palate, it is unctuous, broad, and elegant, with good volume and balanced freshness that extends the finish. A very food-friendly wine, ideal to accompany baked fish, white meats, mushrooms, foie gras, and smoked cheeses.
