Can Rius d'Espiells is a white wine from the DO Penedès made from 100% Xarel·lo sourced from an organic estate in Gelida. Fermented and aged for five months in French oak and chestnut barrels, it stands out for its depth, elegance, and balance between freshness, complexity, and expression of the terroir.
Can Rius d Espiells is a white wine made from 100% Xarel lo grapes from the organic Can Rius estate, located in Gelida, in Alt Penedès. Its vineyards, planted on silty-loam soils and south-facing, enjoy a privileged setting that favors optimal grape ripening and a great expression of the terroir.
The estate is farmed according to the principles of organic and regenerative viticulture, with low yields and manual harvesting to guarantee the highest quality fruit. The best Xarel lo plots are selected to make this wine, which ferments and remains for five months in 300- and 500-liter barrels.
Eighty-five percent of the barrels are French oak and 15% are chestnut from the Catalan Pyrenees, bringing complexity and elegance. On the nose it offers aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus, and Mediterranean herbs, while on the palate it stands out for its freshness, silky texture, and a long, balanced finish.
