The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG San Giovanni Battista is a masterpiece from Piedmont in Tuscany, made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello) by Cantine Leonardo da Vinci within its I Capolavori line, which honors winemaking excellence and artistic inspiration. After aging for 30 months in Slavonian oak casks and at least 6 months in bottle, it shows a ruby color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, and blackberry, with spicy nuances, graphite, and dark chocolate, complemented by elegant touches of vanilla. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, flavorful and spicy, with integrated tannins and good freshness, in a powerful yet refined style, ideal with red meats, game, and aged cheeses, and with remarkable aging potential (15–25 years). The 2018 vintage received 94 points from James Suckling and a gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy, among other recognitions.
