Viñas del Vero Chardonnay (D.O. Somontano) is one of Spain’s most renowned young white wines, made from Chardonnay grapes from the Lapiedra estate, sourced from vineyards around 30 years old located between 350-450?m?s.n.m. Hand harvesting and careful selection allow for traditional winemaking with cold skin maceration, low-temperature fermentation, and brief aging on the lees, bringing structure and volume without losing freshness.
Pale straw yellow in color with greenish highlights, it offers clean and intense aromas of tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, guava), citrus, and floral notes on the nose. On the palate it is flavorful, dense, and structured, with balanced acidity, a rounded mouthfeel, enveloping texture, and a long persistent finish that brings back the fruit and freshness. Its versatility makes it an excellent option for pairing with salads, fish, seafood, rice dishes, and creamy soups.
This Chardonnay won the Baco de Oro 2024 from the Unión Española de Catadores -standing out among 415 wines- and received a gold medal at Cinve 2025, as well as 91?points in the Guía Peñín 2022.
