Laphroaig 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 17 is a powerful, pure, and uncompromising expression of Islay character. Bottled at natural cask strength (58.5% ABV) and non-chill filtered, this whisky retains all its intensity and authenticity, showcasing peat in its most direct and complex form. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, it offers a rich and vibrant profile with sweet, smoky aromas, highlighting candied apple, crème brûlée, and pastry, alongside a subtle maritime background. On the palate, it is dense and enveloping, with a sweet opening of stewed fruit, vanilla cream, and pear in syrup, followed by a progression toward saline, peaty notes and crunchy seaweed. The finish is very long and persistent, with black pepper spice, aged leather, and a sweet, herbaceous smoke that merges with the intensity of the peat. An expressive whisky that, with a few drops of water, reveals a softer, more aromatic side.
