Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a young and intense Islay single malt, with just 5 years of aging in bourbon and Oloroso casks. Very smoky and spicy, it combines notes of tar, chocolate, pepper, and herbs with a powerful, saline palate and a long finish with hints of cocoa.
Ardbeg Wee Beastie is one of the distillery’s youngest and boldest expressions, with only 5 years of maturation, yet an intense and unmistakable character. Made without chill filtration and matured in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso casks, it displays a powerful and wild profile, true to the Islay style. Bright golden in color, the nose stands out for its pronounced smoky notes, with hints of tar, dark chocolate, black pepper, and an herbal background with pine resin. Over time, nuances of vanilla, pear, Turkish coffee, and a subtle touch of honey-glazed ham emerge. On the palate, it is explosive and intense, with a rich texture where flavors of smoke, eucalyptus, anise, and smoked meat come forward, accompanied by medicinal and spicy notes. The finish is long, saline, and persistent, with echoes of cocoa and a sweet touch of fudge that slowly fades.
