Buxus de Les Aubagues is an artisanal village wine, made in Bellmunt del Priorat from 75% Carignan planted in 1954 and 25% red Grenache from 1999. The Carignan is bush-trained on slopes worked with animal traction, while the Grenache grows on terraces trained in double Royat. The estate, with 13 hectares facing north and lying between 290 and 400 meters in altitude, offers a fresh and balanced environment that preserves the grape’s acidity, in contrast with the area’s warm climate.
The wine is made through meticulous grape selection, fermentation in stainless steel tanks, and almost a year of aging, combining large-format casks and new barrels. In the glass it shows an intense, deep ruby color; on the nose it reveals complex aromas with notes of cocoa, violets, and fresh purple plum. On the palate it is fragrant, with vibrant acidity, a balsamic character, and a long, persistent finish, suggesting great aging potential.
